99 MLAs took oath as members of Telangana’s third Assembly

Hyderabad: As many as 99 out of 119 MLAs of Telangana’s third assembly took oath on Saturday.

Earlier in the day, MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi was sworn-in as the Protem Speaker. Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan administered the oath to Akbaruddin Owaisi at a simple ceremony at Raj Bhavan.Later, Akbaruddin Owaisi assumed the chair in the Assembly as Protem Speaker and began the oath ceremony. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu were the first to take oath as MLAs. Many leaders including BRS President K Chandrashekhar Rao, K Tarakarama Rao, Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy did not take the oath today. All eight BJP MLAs have refused to take oath with MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi as Protem Speaker and they will take oath after the election of new Speaker. (INN)
