Congress Govt committed to improve the government schools: Ponnam Prabhakar

Hyderabad: Transport and Hyderabad In-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar claimed that the Congress Government was committed to improving the government schools across Telangana State.

He spoke at a programme at Aliya Model High School in the Abids area of Hyderabad on Wednesday as part of the Badi Bata program, launched by the government to mark the beginning of the new academic year.

During the event, Ponnam Prabhakar congratulated the outstanding students of Class 10 and distributed books and uniforms to the students. Speaking at the function, Prabhakar highlighted that despite the election code of conduct being in force, the state government held a cabinet meeting with permission from the Election Commission of India. In that meeting, it was decided to provide basic facilities, especially electricity and drinking water, to 26,000 government schools in the state. The government also started the Ama Adarsh Pathashala program to provide water, toilets, tables, and benches. The government has allocated Rs 1100 crore for this initiative.

Prabhakar emphasized that the education sector had been neglected in the state for the last ten years, but the Congress Government was committed to developing it. He noted that many ministers, including Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and himself, studied in government schools and know their conditions. He urged parents to enrol their children in government schools, assuring them of experienced teachers and improved facilities, including uniforms, books, and computers.The Minister also stated that facilities would be provided in every school according to its needs. He mentioned that Aliya School currently has 18 teaching and non-teaching staff members and 300 students. The government also provides lunch in schools to encourage attendance and reduce dropouts. He advised the children to take advantage of these facilities and focus on their studies. (INN)
