Congress to observe Maha Dharna today

Hyderabad: The Telangana Congress Pradesh Committee (TPCC) will organise protest across the State on Tuesday against the signing of agreement between TS and Maharashtra Governments for the construction of Medigadda and other irrigation projects on Godavari river.

TPCC President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has directed the entire Congress cadre to hold ‘Black Flag’ protest at all district headquarters. He said that the agreement would only hurt the interest of Telangana State.

In a statement, Congress Chief Spokesperson Dr. Dasoju Sravan said that the State Government was taking up redesigning of projects only to favour contractors and to benefit party leaders.

He said that there were numerous projects in the State that are yet to be completed and the State would benefit if these projects are completed before taking up the new ones.

He said that the redesigning of these projects taken up by the TRS government was a big scam.

“The TRS government was taking credit for all the works done by the earlier Congress government and was passing it on as their achievement,” he said.

The Congress leader said that the state government claimed that it would spend Rs 83,000 crore on Kaleshwaram project and would complete the same in 18 months but only spent Rs 10,000 crore and has now kept it in Pending. The TRS government had revised the estimates of Palamuru-RanagaReddy project from 10,000 core to a whopping 50,000 crore there by burdening the state treasury to benefit the party leaders, the Congress leader observed.
