Protest for Sircilla district intensifies

Karimnagar: Activists of Sircilla Zilla Sadhana Samiti on Thursday staged a sit in at the residence of Sircialla Municipal Council chairperson and demanded the resignation of TRS leaders from various posts for failing to get Sircilla the district status.

Various organizations have come forward to form the samiti to spearhead the movement for a separate district of Sircilla. The Samiti leaders have been protesting for over a fortnight to pursue their demand.

They claimed that IT Minister K Tarakarama Rao had said that it was not possible to form a separate district of Sircilla.

Samithi leaders said that they would intensify their protest to mount pressure on the State government to accord the Sircilla the district status claiming that the town fulfilled the criteria for being upgraded as a district.

KTR’s open letter to his constituents

In a related development, IT Minister KT Rama Rao, who represents Sircilla constituency in the Assembly wrote an open letter to the his constituents promising that he would strive to develop his constituency on all fronts.

He expressed regret that Sircilla could not be granted the district status but promised to develop the town on par with other districts. (INN)
