Nalgonda: Energy Minister Jagadish Reddy said that the Telangana Government was promoting sports in the state in a big way.
The minister on Saturday inaugurated the state level under-19 sports meet at Miryalguda in Nalgonda district.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that in the previous governments rural sports and games were neglected and only commercial sports were promoted.
Soon after the TRS Government came to power, it is promoting the rural sports in a large manner, the minister added.
Jagadish Reddy said that the state government was creating sports infrastructure from mandal level in order to give sports a boost.
The three-day sports meet will see the participation of hundreds of students and youth from across the state.
Earlier, the minister paid floral tributes to the portrait of Chakali Ilamma, Chakali Ilamma, one of the leaders of the Telangana armed struggle, on her death anniversary. (INN)
