Hyderabad: The Telangana Congress leaders will meet President of India Pranab Mukherjee on the issue of farmers.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy informed that a delegation of Congress leaders will meet Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan on Saturday to submit a representation against forced acquisition of land from farmers for Mallanna Sagar project.
The Governor will also be briefed about farmers’ suicides and other related issues, he said.
On September 13th or 14th, a Congress delegation will meet the President on farmers’ issues.
Uttam Kumar Reddy informed that the Congress party will organise a meeting at Gajwel to mark 100 days of imposition of Section 144 in Vimala Ghat of Mallanna Sagar.
He said that the party was also planning to approach the Supreme Court on the farmers’ issues. (INN)
