GHMC all set to clear encroachments

Hyderabad: A day after the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao assured that the capital city would be made encroachments free to prevent flooding, the GHMC has swung into action.

The officials on Sunday said that a report on encroachment of nalas has been drafted and an action plan to clear them has been readied.

GHMC Mayor Bonthu Rammohan said that numerous encroachments across the state have been cleared. He said that the options were weighed in as to how the GHMC should deal the cases if in case the encroachers approach the courts.

GHMC Commissioner Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy said that an action plan has been prepared to tackle legal hurdles in clearing the encroachments.

He also said that in every GHMC circle, a flying squad and a demolition squad has been formed which with the help of other departments would be undertaken clearing of the encroachments of nalas in the city.

He said that the squatters would be rehabilitated and only then the drive to clear encroachments would be taken up. (INN)
