GHMC ignored pleas against encroachments: BJP

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP on Monday demanded that the Chief Minister who said that the state government would act tough on the encroachments of drains in the city should act against the officials who turned a deaf-ear to the illegal enrichments in the past.

Party leaders led by its TS chief Dr. K Laxman visited the rain affected areas on Monday and met the people. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Laxman said that the BJP had in the past had brought to the notice of GHMC officials about illegal encroachments at various places in the city but the officials ignored their pleas.

The state does not have a disaster management committee and this is delaying the relief measures, he said.

The BJP leader alleged that the huge tracts of farm lands and lakes were also being encroached by realtors but the officials of GHMC and irrigation department failed to act against the encroachers.

Dr. Laxman found fault with the TRS government for holding previous governments responsible for the flooding of the city.

The TRS government is in power in the state for over two years but it is unfair that the party is holding previous governments responsible for the issues city is facing. It is an attempt to hide the TRS government’s failures, he said. (INN)
