IPS AK Khan inaugurates Cricket Club in MANUU

Take sportsman spirit in classrooms and in life outside the campus, advised Telangana’s ACB director general A K Khan after inaugurating a cricket club at Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) yesterday.

Known for sportsmanship in his field, the IPS officer took to the cricket field and batted different strokes to neat bowling of students.

“I am impressed with the calibre of your players. They know how to bowl and field,” he told the MANUU authorities about the university cricket players.

The 200 acre sprawling MANUU campus has a cricket ground capable of hosting first-class cricket tournaments, said a person at the Gachibowli-based varsity. It’s a first ever cricket club to be launched at MANUU.

Khan told students about rich history of Hyderabad, which boasted of players like Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, M L Jaisimha, Abid Ali, Abbas Ali Baig, Mohammad Azharuddin and VVS Laxman etc.

“What it requires is your devotion. Show it and you will go places,” IPS Khan advised.

Speaking on the occassion, MANUU vice chancellor Dr Aslam Pervaiz assured the students of all possible facilities to allow them to hone their sporting skills.

“The University will support you in developing your sporting skills,” the VC said.

Dr Parvaiz appreciated the efforts of MCC Committee Members and the Coach Mr.Hafeez Malik. He advised the budding cricketers to fully utilize the facilities available and perform well to get success.

MCC comprises Senior and Junior Groups. MCC Senior Group consists of selected students from U.G., P.G. and Research Scholars where as the Junior Group comprises students from Diploma in Education, Polytechnic and ITI.
