Congress accuses BJP of practising hate politics

Hyderabad: AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh has accused the BJP-led NDA Government of practising hate politics in the country.

Addressing the Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavana Yatra Commemoration Day function at historic Charminar on Wednesday, Digvijay Singh said that that BJP has been raising controversial issues to incite communal feelings.

He said BJP leaders played hate politics over issues like ‘Love Jihad’, ‘Ram Zada’, Gau Raksh, Triple Talaq and now they came up Uniform Civil Code.

He said that the Personal Laws were internal matter of all religious communities and the judiciary or government should not intervene into them.

He said that the Centre should have consulted the religious leaders and called for an all-party meeting to discuss UCC. However, it has been trying to target a specific community over Uniform Civil Code.

He said that the Congress would not permit the BJP-led NDA Government to interfere in any community’s Personal Laws.

Digvijay Singh slammed Narendra Modi saying that the NDA Government was politicizing surgical strikes carried out by the Indian Army across the LoC to gain political mileage in Uttar Pradesh elections.

He said that the surgical strikes were carried out even during the UPA rule against terror launch pads across the LoC but Congress never made it an issue to gain political mileage.

The AICC General Secretary said that the Congress Governments had fought and won wars against Pakistan in the past. But the previous BJP Government dropped back terrorist leader Azhar Masood in Afghanistan in official plane.

He also reminded that BJP leaders L.K. Advani and Jaswanth Singh had praised Mohammed Ali Jinnah on multiple occasions.

Speaking about TRS Government, he condemned Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao for playing a direct role in making legislators of opposition parties defect to his party.

However, he expressed dissatisfaction over judiciary’s role in dealing with cases against defected MPs and legislators. He alleged that the judiciary was working under some kind of political pressure.

Stating that he might face contempt of court for his remarks, he said he was not afraid of speaking the truth.

Speaking on the occasion TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy lashed out at BJP saying that it was dividing the people on the lines of caste and communities for further its political agenda.

He found fault with Modi for comparing Indian Army with that of Israel’s army saying that Indian Army cannot be compared with that of Israel. He alleged that the BJP was trying to rake up the issue of temple at Ayodhya to garner votes in UP polls.

Leader of Opposition in Telangana Legislative Council Mohammad Ali Shabbir said that the hardcore hindutva forces have unleashed terror in the country after Narendra Modi’s election to the Prime Minister’s Office.

He said that the minorities and Dalits in the country have been living in a state of fear in the Modi-led NDA regime. He accused Modi of failing to rein in the Hindutva groups who are harassing the weaker section in the name of cow protection.

Shabbir Ali said that former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi strived to promoted communal harmony and the party was continuing his legacy and would protect the country’s pluralistic ethos.

The country will never forget the services of Rajiv Gandhi to the country, he added.
