Jaipal Reddy resents BJP’s diatribe against Nehru

Hyderabad: Former Union Minister and senior Congress leader S. Jaipal Reddy on Saturday found fault with Union Law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad’s statement that Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Patel had differences and that they differed on various issues. The BJP leaders are spreading lies by distorting history, he added.

Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, Jaipal Reddy said that both Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Patel were Congress leaders and shared good relation.

Taking strong objection to Union Minister Ravi Shankar’s statement, he said that the BJP leaders were praising Sardar Patel with an intention to demean Nehru and his contribution to the making of modern India.

Conducting Operation Polo to annex Hyderabad to Union of India was the collective decision of Nehru and Sardar Patel, he said.

Jaipal Reddy said that the RSS was making every effort to create differences between the people of different communities and warned that such efforts will be strongly opposed by Congress.

He said that the attempts of BJP to present distorted versions of historical facts would not be accepted as people are aware of the intentions of the saffron party.

He said that both Nehru and Sardar Patel contributed a lot to the nation’s progress and would strongly opposed to the communal agenda of the RSS. (INN)
