Azad Day: Freedom fighter inaugurates photo exhibition in MANUU

Eminent freedom fighter B. Narsingh Rao inaugurated a photo exhibition on women freedom fighters in Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) at Gachibowli, Hyderabad yesterday.

The exhibition “Madar-e-Watan ko Salam” was organized at the seminar hall of Centre for Urdu Language, Literature and Culture.

Speaking on the inauguration, Narsingh Rao said that the freedom fighters had to face dual front in the princely states.

“They had to carry out the struggle on two fronts, one at the national level and the other at the State level where they lived,” Rao noted.

While paying rich tributes to the women freedom fighters, he added that they fought shoulder-to-shoulder along with men.

MANUU vice chancellor Dr. Aslam Parvaiz presided over the function. In his talk on the occasion, he described the exhibition as “impressive”.

Dr Parvaiz noted that through Azad Day Celebrations, MANUU was covering different aspects of social life.

“Fight for freedom is not over yet. For example we need to fight on against illiteracy and poverty,” he remarked while asking “Has the exploitation of masses ended?”.

The VC added that ensuring cleanliness and protection of the environment are among the fights ahead of the nation.
