TS has enough onion stock : Harish Rao

Hyderabad: Minister for Marketing and Irrigation T Harish Rao on Tuesday informed that there was no scarcity of onion in the state.

Speaking at a review meeting with the officials of marketing department, the minister said that there was enough stock of essential commodities in the state and termed the reports of scarcity of onion as rumours.

He warned that the government would take strict action against those who were creating a scarcity of onion and other essential.

He directed the officials to organize symposiums to create awareness on new marketing laws.

He also directed the officials to come up with draft on new laws to ensure better services to farmers. He directed the officials to inspect cotton ginning mills in Adilabad and Khammam to curb irregularities.

He said that efforts were being made to store wheat stocks in warehouses and directed the officials to step up arrangements in this regard.

Harish Rao said that the government was making efforts to make marketing transactions online and assured of giving incentives to those showing good results in collecting marketing fee dues.

He said that check posts in the state would be strengthen to curb illegal marketing practices. (INN)
