Minister asks banks to ensure cash payments to farmer

Hyderabad: Minister for Transport Mahendar Reddy on Friday directed the banks to ensure that the farmers were able to withdraw cash from their accents without any inconvenience.

He also asked the officials of agriculture and marketing departments to ensure that the farmers get money for their produce immediately after the procurement of crop yield.

Speaking at a review meeting with the collectors and other officials of Ranga Reddy, Malkajgiri and Vikarabad districts here on the situation arising out of demonetization of high value currency notes,

the minister said that the farmers were facing difficulties in withdrawing their money due to non-availability of cash at ATMs and directed the officials to ensure that they get their money without any trouble from the banks.

He also said that the students and women were also facing hardships due to cash crunch and asked officials to ensure enough cash availability at banks.

The minister warned the banks not to collect interest on the waived loans of farmers. (INN)
