TS Assembly to discuss demonetization

Hyderabad: The Telangana Assembly will discuss the Centre’s demonetisation policy during the Winter Session of the State Legislature beginning from Friday.

This was decided at the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting held at Speaker S. Madhusudhan Chary’s office on Thursday.

The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) agreed for a debate on the issue with the insistence of MIM and Congress, which said that the ban of high currency notes has severely hit the majority of people and hence the issue should be discussed in the Assembly.

On the other hand BJP opposed the demand for discussion of demonetization in Assembly saying that the subject was a Central issue and the state has nothing to do with it.

The government said that it was ready for conducting Session in January for one more week. However, the schedule and agenda has not been finalized.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Dy CM Kadiam Srihari, Legislative Affairs Minister Harish Rao, Leader of Opposition K Jana Reddy, Bhatti Vikramarka (Congress), Akbaruddin Owaisi (MIM) , Kishan Reddy (BJP), Sandra Venkata Veeriah (TD) and others attended the BAC meet chaired by the Assembly Speaker.
