TS Govt to set up 9 Leather Parks

Hyderabad: Industries Minister K. Tarakarama Rao on Tuesday informed the State Legislative Assembly during the Question Hour that the government was planning to establish nine leather parks across the State.

Replying to a question raised by TRS MLA Dr. T. Rajaiah and Aroori Ramesh, the minister said that the leather parks are proposed to be set up in Nagarkurnool, Jangaon, Khammam, Armoor, Nalgonda, Siddipet, Mahabubnagar, Manchrial and Karimnagar.

Earlier, he said that a Leather Park, spread across 150 acres, would be established in Station Ghanpur of Jangaon district at a cost of Rs. 270.10 crore.

He said a proposal has been submitted to the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, Government of India on 4th November this year requesting for sanction of the park and an amount of Rs. 105 crore under Indian Leather Development Programme (ILDP) Scheme, Government of India.

The minister said as per the GoI guidelines, the project should be completed in two years from the date of approval of the project. He said that approval from Central Government was awaited. (INN)
