SCR GM directs officials to conduct safety drives

Hyderabad: Safety is accorded top most priority on the Zone, reiterated South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager Vinod Kumar Yadav.

Addressing a safety review meeting held at Rail Nilayam in Secunderabad on Monday, the General Manager called upon the officials to carry out Special Safety Drives across the Zone.

Principal Heads of the Departments also participated in the review meeting. The Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) of all the six Divisions on SCR viz., Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntur, Guntakal and Nanded attended the meeting through Video Conference.

The General Manager in his address spelt out that track maintenance and rolling stock maintenance should be given equal importance without affecting the passenger mobility and freight loading.

Officials should carry out surprise visits, inspections, and random checks of yards, pit lines, coaching depots etc, find prevailing problems and initiate remedial measures to overcome the same.

Ultra Sound Flaw Detecting testing shall be done on regular basis said the General Manager.

Vinod Kumar Yadav stated that the Gate Mitra’s deputed for manning the level crossing gates have to be utilized effectively.

Counsel them on the importance of safety and provide basic training too, he stressed. Lessons learnt from earlier incidents and field experiences shall be implemented to attain 100% safety, the General Manager counseled.

Additional General Manager A.K.Gupta also addressed the meeting. Chief Safety Officer D.K. Singh made a Power Point Presentation on safety. Several senior officials were also present in the meeting. (INN)
