Revanth demands Rs. 10,000 per quintal MSP for Tur Dal

Hyderabad: Telangana TDP Working President A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday demanded payment of Minimum Support Price of Rs. 10,000 per quintal for Tur Dal.

In his letter to Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, the TDP leader said that the State Government had promised to pay Rs. 10,000 per quintal for Tur Dal which prompted farmers to go for the crop.

However, after huge yield of Tur Dal, the farmers were being paid just Rs. 5,050 per quintal. Of nearly 5 lakh quintal produce, only one lakh quintal of Tur Dal has been purchased so far.

Revanth Reddy alleged that the TRS Government was causing harm to farmers to benefit some traders. He demanded that more centres should be established across the State for purchase of Tur Dal and farmers should be a bonus of Rs. 450 per quintal of Tur Dal in addition to the MSP of Rs. 10,000.

He said that the government should take immediate steps to set up Tur Development Board at Podangal. (INN)
