Entire MMTS Phase-II Project to be commissioned by December 2018

Hyderabad: South Central Railway General Manager Vinod Kumar Yadav stated that the entire MMTS Phase-II Project will be commissioned by end of December, 2018.

To give a better picture of the progress of the project, the General Manager led a Media Tour on Tuesday on Secunderabad-Moula Ali-Cherlapalli-Ghatkesar Section. Secunderabad Divisional Manager Ashesh Agarwal, Rail Vikas Nigam Limited Chief Project Manager P. Srinivas and other senior railway officials were present on the occasion.

Addressing the media, Vinod Kumar Yadav stated that the MMTS Phase-II would be commissioned partly by the end of December 2017 and the total stretch of the project by end of December 2018. Responding to queries, the General Manager stated that Ministry of Civil Aviation is in discussions with SCR and GMR to find out an amicable solution to provide MMTS connectivity with Shamshabad Airport.

Detailing on the development of Cherlapalli Terminal, he said that SCR was setting up a satellite terminal with a provision of six platforms at Cherlapalli to lessen the burden on Secunderabad Railway Station. Works in this regard have already been commenced.

The SCR has identified 50 acres of land and is in discussions to acquire remaining 150 acres of land from Telanagana State Government, he added.

Further, the General Manager said that the SCR was according top priority to safety. Safety drives have been initiated on the Zone to check railway tracks and rolling stock including coaches and wagons.

Earlier, the General Manager took the media to the actual work sites of MMTS Phase II and showcased the track laying works being carried out between Moula-Ali – Cherlapalli Section and earth strengthening works being carried out between Cherlapalli-Ghatkesar Section. The General Manager conducted a window trailing inspection of the Section also.

Earlier, SCR Chief Public Relations Officer Umashankar Kumar appraised the media on the status of the MMTS Phase-II works. (INN)
