Chellappa Commission term extended for one more year

Hyderabad: The Telangana Government on Saturday issued orders extending the term of Commission of Inquiry for Scheduled Tribes for one more year.

The Commission, headed by retired IAS officer S. Chellapa, was constituted in March 2015 to study the socio-economic conditions of Scheduled Tribes in the State. This was done as a prelude to increase their quota in jobs and education to 12%. The Commission was given multiple extensions and its term was to end on January 31.

Therefore, the State Government has extended the Commission’s term for one more year upto January 31, 2018.

Retired IPS officer K. Jagannatha Rao and retired Addl Commissioner (Labour) H.K. Nagu are the other members of the Commission. (INN)
