Hyderabad: Director General of Police Anurag Sharma appealed all road users in the State to observe “Accident Free Day” on January 31 (Tuesday) by following Traffic Rules and taking all precautions to avoid road accidents.

“Road safety has become a matter of very serious concern, as India is losing 150,000 precious human lives every year. In Telangana State, we are losing 7,000 precious human lives every year.

Every day, about 20 persons die in 60 road accidents in Telangana State. It is disheartening to note that pedestrians and two wheelers account for 50% of total deaths. Similarly, it is also found that 50% of the total deaths are in the age groups of 18 years to 35 years,” the DGP said while appealing all road users to take all precautions.

“Let us demonstrate our commitment towards ‘Safe and Secure’ Telangana State,” he said. (INN)
