SCR among best in providing passenger amenities: Yadav

Hyderabad: The 71st Zonal Railway Users Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) Meeting was held under the chairmanship of South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager Vinod Kumar Yadav here on Tuesday.

Forty Eight ZRUCC Members including Rajahmundry MP M. Murali Mohan and MLC D. Rajeswar Rao attended the meeting. The members of ZRUCC nominated by respective State Govts.,

elected members from DRUCC (Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee) of six Divisions, Public Sector Undertaking, Principal Chamber of Commerce & Trade Associations, Registered Passengers Association, nominees of Minister of Railways under special interest category participated in the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Vinod Kumar Yadav informed that the South Central Railway stands among the best in providing passenger amenities including lifts, escalators, foot over bridges, wheel chairs, battery operated cars etc., towards fulfilling the needs of the various categories of rail commuters.

SCR has run several special trains for mega events like Krishna Pushkaram, Sabarimalai, Sankranti festival etc., SCR’s performance during the current financial year has been promising and it has achieved a freight loading of 80 million tonnes during the current financial year till January 2017.

SCR is according top priority for safety of passengers and freight mobility. In order to ensure high quality passenger amenities, 68 stations have been declared as Adarsh Stations. Out of which, works at 61 stations have been developed as Adarsh stations and works are under progress at 7 more stations.

The General Manager informed to members that MMTS Phase II works will be completed by end of December 2018. He also informed that Secunderabad and Vijayawada railway stations have been selected under station redevelopment programme for developing these stations as world class stations.

Vinod Kumar Yadav informed that 36 lifts and 34 escalators are already provided at various important stations on SCR and works of 34 lifts and 16 escalators are under progress towards enhancing passenger comfort.

He assured the ZRUCC members that their suggestions and views expressed during the meeting will be given due consideration while formulating plans for improving amenities and services.

Catching up with the changing technological scenario, SCR has developed mobile apps like HYLITES, TADAAST, RISSTA, App for paperless ticketing, Clean My Coach app etc. DigiPay services have been introduced for the benefit of passengers at Kacheguda station.

The members were also apprised of the performance of SCR and developmental works under progress through a power point presentation.

The members appreciated the efforts of SCR and its positive response to representations of members. The suggestions from various members include additional stoppage of express trains at important towns;

setting up of more additional escalators and lifts; improving the cleanliness at stations; provision of bus services from the railway stations by coordinating with respective transport sector; extension of platforms; augmentation of trains by additional coaches; construction of ROBs/RUBs;

expedition completion of new line and doubling projects; enhancing security on trains especially for women passengers.

Addl. General Manager A.K. Gupta and Principal Heads of all departments participated in the meeting. Prasun Chakraborty, Deputy General Manager (General) and Secretary ZRUCC convened the meeting. (INN)
