Modi Govt committed for welfare of labour: Dattatraya

Hyderabad: Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatraya said that the Central Government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was committed for the welfare of labour.

Addressing a press conference at the Regional Provident Fund Commissioner Office at Barkatpura on Sunday, the Union Minister said that the government has undertaken reforms for providing social security to beedi, cine and domestic servants.

The government will set up the Shram Suvidha portal which will helpful for solving the several problems of the workers. “We can achieve the transparency and accountability through E-Governance.

The Gratuity will be enhanced from Rs 10 Lakhs to Rs. 20 Lakhs by amending the Gratuity Act 1972 in the forthcoming parliament session,” he said.

Dattatraya said that the compensation would be paid to the workers within six months who met with an accidental death. The government has undertaken reforms in ESIC (Employee State Insurance Corporation). As many as 68 New ESIC hospitals will be setup in the country.

ESIC dispensaries will be opened in all over India including the north eastern states. The Sanathnagar ESIC hospital in Hyderabad will be modernised at the cost of Rs 100 Crore.

A new ESIC hospital will be setup in Kavadiguda at the cost of Rs. 50 Crore. The Goshamahal ESIC hospital in Hyderabad is upgraded as 100 bed hospital, he said.

The Union Minister appealed to Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to allot land for construction of ESIC hospitals. The Government is taking initiative through labour reforms for the wage, job and social security of workers working in Un-organized sector.

As a positive gesture of ease of doing business the employers maintaining of 55 registers were simplified to 5 registers only. Super specialty treatment facilities will be provided to worker under PPP Model.

In case of EPF the self certification of subscribers is enough. 17 New Dispensaries will be opened in Telangana, he said. (INN)
