BJP condemns Kodandaram’s stand on 12% Muslim quota

Hyderabad: The Bharatiya Janata Party has strongly objected to the demand by Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) Chairman Prof. M. Kodandaram to Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to implement 12% reservations for Muslims.

“BJP demands Prof Kodandaram to explain, if his demand is a collective decision of the JAC or a unilateral hasty decision.

Indian constitution clearly opposes religion based reservations & Supreme Court of India has clearly ruled against any such provisions by either Central or State Governments,” Telangana BJP Official Spokesperson Krishna Saagar Rao said in a statement on Tuesday.

The BJP leader said that KCR’s promise of 12% reservations to Muslims was an election firework. “KCR’s promise is fake, illegal and unconstitutional. It is impossible to implement.

Everyone knows that it is a mean political ploy for political expediency for Muslim votes. BJP believes, his reservation gimmick explicitly amounts to cheating Muslims of the Telangana State through false promises.

BJP wants Muslim brothers and sisters to see through this selfish antic of TRS and KCR,” he said.

Rao said that BJP respects Prof. Kodandaram for being apolitical and as an intellectual fighting for the development and welfare of Telangana State.

He should not be toeing the line of CM KCR’s false promise. BJP will oppose and resist any initiatives by either Kodandaram or TJAC in reference to this particular demand.

Nobody who respects Indian Constitution and its non provision for this kind of politically motivated, religion based reservations should support or demand 12% Muslim reservations. It’s unconstitutional, illegal and unfair, he said. (INN)
