GITAM University Annual Day

The GITAM University, Hyderabad celebrated its annual day on 5 th April 2017 with enthusiasm and variety. A cultural extravaganza that marked the event, kicked off with a classical dance performance depicting the jugalbandi of Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi dance forms. The rest of the programme was a good mix of recognition of academic excellence and sports talent.

The teacher’s role should not be confined to imparting knowledge to students, but rather extend to mould them into responsible citizens who can improve the conditions of the downtrodden and the rural poor, said Prof. M.S.Prasada Rao, Vice Chancellor, GITAM University, who was the chief guest at the programme.

He also stressed on adoption of a well-integrated system of education that can help in developing the moral character of an individual. “As teachers and educators, we must ensure that education is not just a means to achieve academic pursuit but a pursuit of moral wisdom. Moreover, it is equally important to be a good student and a good human being,” he added.

The Chief Guest felicitated the top performers in Academics and Organizing Events/Social Activities; Academics and Sports; Academics and Co-curricular activities; Academics and Arts/Literary Events, and winners of various sports competitions by distributing prizes.

Earlier, the Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. N.Siva Prasad presented the Annual Day Report whichhighlighted the activities of the various departments, particularly the newly inaugurated skill development, incubation and innovation centres on the campus as well the individual achievements of faculty members.

Mathukumilli Sri Bharat, Member, Governing Body, GITAM University, Prof. Ch.Sanjay, Principal, School of Technology, Prof. G.A.Rama Rao, Principal, School of Science, Shri DVVSR Varma, Resident Director, Dr. Nathi Venu Kumar, Director, T&P Cell, HoDs of various departments, staff and students were also present on the occasion.
