TS power sector problems will be solved soon: Dattatraya

Hyderabad: Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatraya said that he would soon discuss on the problems related to power sector in Telangana with Union Minister of State for Power Piyush Goyal for their solution.

The Union Minister held a review meeting with officials from the state and central power sectors on the power situation in Telangana in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

Dattatraya said that nearly 2500 MW of power was needed for Telangana state. He directed the officials to ensure 12 hours of power supply to the farmers. He also informed that the Centre has allotted Rs. 1107 crores towards providing electricity to 5.65 lakh houses in 9,150 villages with a subsidy of Rs. 3,000 for each house.

He also said that Rural Electrification Corporation sanctioned Rs. 30,000 crores to Telangana in the last two years.

The Union Minister also said that through ‘Deen Dayal Upadhyay Scheme’, the centre was helping the State for the supply of quality power.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision is to provide 24 hour power supply to every house. He also said that there is a need to build separate lines for agriculture and non-agriculture purposes. He said that there was a need to construct underground power supply system in Hyderabad by replacing the existing system.

Officials, who were present at the review meeting, informed the Minister that Rs. 350 crores would be needed for this project.

Dattatraya informed that Rs. 1543 cores sanctioned to TS NPDCL for Implementation of Energy Efficiency HVDS projects for saving of energy on account of agriculture pump sets in Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Khammam and Warangal districts.

Further, Rs. 898 cores were sanctioned to TS TRANSCO for Jaipur Power Transmission Scheme covering Adilabad, Karimnagar, Medak and Rangareddy districts. He also said that Rs. 1317 cores sanctioned to TS TRANSCO for Erection of 400/200 KV sub-station at Suryapet and Associated 400 KV. 220 KV and 132 KV transmission network in Nalgonda, Rangareddy and Khammam districts.
