Telangana is not the richest State: Jaipal Reddy

Hyderabad: Congress senior leader and former Union Minister S. Jaipal Reddy has accused Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao of cheating the people by stating that Telangana was among the richest State in the country.

Participating in the Meet The Press programme at Somajiguda Press Club on Saturday, Jaipal Reddy said Telangana is only a ‘Revenue Surplus’ State. He said there was a huge difference between a State being ‘Revenue Surplus’ and ‘richest’. He said that the Chief Minister was making misleading States on State’s financial position.

Jaipal Reddy said that KCR has been making tall promises with the people to win next elections. He said that the new promises of KCR would meet the same fate as of old promises and they would remain unfulfilled.

He alleged that the Chief Minister was wasting public money to implement his illogical ideas. For an instance, he said while Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has been complaining of not having a proper Secretariat building for his State, KCR wants to construct a new Secretariat while abandoning a fully functional and decent Secretariat. He asked KCR to justify the need for a new Secretariat building.

The Congress leader said farmers of Telangana were not getting fresh loans due the discrepencies in the crop loan waiver schemes implemented by TRS Government.

He also slammed the BJP Government at the Centre and said its demonitisation decision has affected the country’s growth rate by over two per cent. He said that the impact of demonitisation was still on and people have been facing several problems. (INN)
