GHMC to give Rs. 1 lakh award to ‘Swachh Housewives’

Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy said that the corporation was planning to give a cash price of Rs. 1 lakh to “Swachh Housewives”.

The award, to be decided through a lottery system, is proposed to be given through sponsorship from corporate houses as a Corporate Social Responsibility.

The award will be given to the housewives who properly segregate the wet and dry waste at their households and duly hand it over the same to the auto trolleys instead of throwing it on roads and in nalas. The GHMC is creating a new app to identify such women who are segregating the garbage waste at their households.

The housewives can apply through the new app to participate in the lottery system to win cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh .

The GHMC Commissioner said as per the directions of Municipal Administration Minister K. Tarakarama Rao, the GHMC would conduct awareness programme for school children on segregation of wet and dry garbage.

Students will be provided two big dust bins for segregation of garbage waste wet and dry separately at their schools and they would be explained the benefits of segregation so that they could pass on the message to their parents and relatives.

This programme was launched at Government High School at Mansoorabad in Nagole Division on Wednesday. The GHMC proposes to involve about 5-10 lakh students under this awareness programme. (INN)
