Hyderabad Zone may witness a jump of 14% in GST collection

Hyderabad: Chief Commissioner of Central Tax and Customs (Hyderabad Zone) Sandeep M. Bhatnagar said that the Hyderabad Zone might register an increase by 14 per cent in Goods and Service Tax (GST) collections during the current fiscal.

Bhatnagar said that about Rs. 14,500 crores were collected towards Central Excise and Service Tax last year from Telangana and it was expected to grow at the rate of 14%. He was speaking at GST Day celebrations here on Saturday to mark the beginning of a new chapter of transformed indirect tax.

He also launched a common web portal for Telangana State GST and Hyderabad GST Zone. The website provides comprehensive information in all aspects of GST, statutes, rules, notifications, circulars, trade notices etc.

The web pages of the individual Commissionerate contain information specific to their respective jurisdictions, he explained. The Hyderabad GST Zone has also set up a GST Seva Kendra and have come out with Guidance Manual for the Center.

The Chief Commissioner said that there are were 66,000 registrations under Service Tax, about 13,000 under Central Excise and nearly 2.93 lakh under Value Added Tax. Almost 86% of these registrations have been migrated to GST. (INN)
