Hyderabad Business School Bags National Excellence Award 2016

Hyderabad Business School (HBS) has received National Excellence Award for this year in New Delhi from the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM).

The prestigious award was given to HBS, a constituent of GITAM University, for the “Best Institute Promoting Research”.

Union Minister of State, HRD, Prof. Ram Shankar Katheria handed over the award to HBS Dean & Director Prof. S.S. Prasada Rao at the 9th ASSOCHAM Higher Education Summit 2016 & National Excellence Awards – 2016 held in New Delhi.

Commenting on receiving award, Prof. Rao said: “Hyderabad Business School, though one of the younger constituents of GITAM University, has established a reputation for its commitment to standards in research and teaching of management studies.”

HBS produced two outstanding PhDs and an M.Phil. since its inception six years ago. All these three students were supervised by Prof. Rao.

HBS student Venkata Ramana Ummareddy was awarded PhD for research on “Strategic Management Practices in Bio-Mass Power Plants in Andhra Pradesh”, while M. Nageswara Rao was awarded PhD for research on “The Application of Stable Distribution Model for Prediction of Stock Returns: A study with Special Reference to Selected Major Indian Banks”.

In the past two years itself, the faculty members of HBS have published scholarly articles in 37 national and international journals, contributed chapters in 21 books, edited and published 5 books and authored a book.

Five case studies written by the faculty have been published in casecentre.org and Iveycases.com, bringing international recognition to HBS.

Two of the faculty members, Dr. R. Radhika and Dr. M. Jayasree have completed their UGC projects on “Impact of FII’s on Indian Banking Sector” and “Convergence of IFRS and IGAAP: Key Issues and Challenges” respectively.

Hyderabad Business School believes that only when the teaching faculty is up to date with research in their field, can they be good teachers. The faculty members are encouraged to publish their research and share with their peers in national/international conferences and seminars.
