Hyderabad Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav said that there was need for increasing the milk production in Telangana State as the demand for milk was 123.73 lakh litres while its production is 105.68 lakh liters. To bridge this gap, the State Government has taken up a scheme of distribution of animals.
The minister said Milk procured through Vijaya Dairy in the State was 5.25 lakh liters per day during the year 2017.18.
To overcome the shortage and become surplus, the Telangana State Dairy Development Cooperative Federation have taken steps for strengthening of village level and mandal level infrastructure and establishment of Bulk Milk Cooling Units and strengthening of Milk Chilling Centres to Dairy plants for improvement of milk procurement and sales through the Central government schemes and State schemes.
