New AP Haj House Chairman Assume Charge

Momin Ahammad Hussain assumed charge as new Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh State Haj Committee, in an event held on May 4 at Haj House in Nampally, Hyderabad.

Silpa said that it was a pious and heavy responsibility to serve the Haj pilgrims of Andhra Pradesh. He said that the Minorities in the state were living a pathetic life by engaging in petty activities.

Situation was so worse that ten were forced to live in one room, he said while adding that they were not able to give good education to their children due to utter poverty.

He disclosed that he has urged the Chief Minister Sri N. Chandra Babu Naidu to provide small loans to the minorities without surety, so that they could be able to start small business activities.

MLA Chand Basha said that after bifurcation of the state the Haj Committee was the first body to be formed in the new state. He said that a heavy responsibility lies on the Haj Committee to provide better facilities to the Haj pilgrims.

Former MLA Abdul Ghani also congratulated the new Chairman and members of the Haj Committee. The Haj Committee members Shaik Mastan Shariff, Mufti Farooq and Mufti Rafi assured their full cooperation to the Chairman and the Committee.

Shaik Mohammed Iqbal, Commissioner Minorities Welfare, Government of Andhra Pradesh said that two Haj Houses are being constructed in AP – one in Kadappah and other in Vijaywada and soon activities would be shifted there.

He said that regarding accommodation to the AP State Haj Committee in Haj House he has spoken to the Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana Mr. Mahmood Ali and it is hoped issued will be sorted out soon.

Prof. S. A Shukoor, Executive Officer AP State Haj Committee, welcomed the gathering and gave a brief report about the status of Haj pilgrims from the state.

He said that this year 2052 Haj pilgrims including 193 in reserve categories were selected to perform Haj from AP. Similarly eight Khadim ul Hujjaj (Haj Volunteers) were selected from the state @ one Khadim ul Hujjaj for each 200 pilgrims.

He said that this year the pilgrims would proceed on the sacred journey from second week of August.
