SFI HCU Expels Raju Kumar Sahu for ‘maligning organization’

University of Hyderabad (HCU) chapter of Students Federation of India (SFI) expelled Raju Kumar Sahu from primary membership for maligning the organization.

“SFI condemns the statements made by Raju Kumar Sahu maligning the organization and the movement Justice for Rohith,” the organization said in a press statement.

Sahu, who is currently the general secretary of Hyderabad Central University Students’ Union (HCUSU), alleged that SFI and Ambedkar Student Association (ASA) exploited Rohith Vemula when he was alive, and now cashing in on his death.

Earlier last week, Sahu resigned from SFI to protest against “opportunistic political agenda and divisive ideology”, according to a TOI report. He also demanded a CBI enquiry on Rohith’s death and also find out who struck off five sentences in suicide note that were critical of SFI and ASA.

“Raju Kumar Sahu has betrayed the entire Students’ community by disrespecting the mandate of the Students’ community in the recently held University General Body Meeting organised by Students’ Union,” the SFI HCU noted.

“Raju Kumar Sahu has blatantly violated the organizational ethos of SFI for which SFI HCU unit committee expels him from the primary membership of SFI,” it added.

SFI alleged the HCU administration and ABVP lured Sahu to “stoop to such level of betraying the students’ community” that elected him as general secretary.

“At this juncture, we would like to reiterate our commitment to fight for Justice for Rohith and would like to state that organizational values shall not be compromised for any individuals and shall continue to fight for the welfare of the Students’ community.”
