TS EAMCET: 2.46 lakh students appear from Telangana in 2016

Telangana State’s Engineering Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test (TS EAMCET) 2016 examination was held on May 15 at 470 centers peacefully, said an official.

Out of total registered candidates for TS EAMCET 2016, the percentage of attendance for Engineering was 92.34 and for Agriculture and Medical it was 88.02.

A whopping 2.46 lakh students registered for TS EAMCET. For engineering stream a total of 1,44,510 registered, while for Agriculture & Medical streams a total of 1,02,012 registered.

The competitive examination was conducted from 10.00AM to 1.00PM for Engineering and from 2.30 PM to 5.30 PM for Agriculture & Medical through 26 regional centers.

A total of 94,402 candidates registered in Hyderabad zones, which is over 38% of total candidates registered for TS EAMCET. In Hyderabad, 61,637 registered for engineering while 32,765 for agriculture and medical.

For Engineering, Set Code ‘Q’ was selected by TS Education Minister Kadiyam Srihari, while Set Code ‘S’ was selected for Agriculture & Medical (AM) stream by Health Minister Charlakola Laxma Reddy.

As many as 470 centers were used for the EAMCET exam, out of which 276 were used for Engineering and 190 + 4 Online Centres for Agriculture and Medical.

TS EAMCET convener Dr. N.V. Ramana Rao said that the online examination was conducted for the first time for Agriculture & Medical stream at four centers, including three at Hyderabad.

“Also for the first time we have collected biometric finger prints data and photographs of all the candidates during the examination,” Dr Rao added.

“This will help to curb impersonation and to verify the genuinity of the candidates at several stages like at the time of counseling, admissions, fee reimbursement etc.”

This time, a total of 534 candidates opted for online mode of examination in Agriculture and Medical stream, but only 444 attended the EAMCET exam.

For organizing EAMCET smoothly, a total of 11,300 invigilators, 320 observers, 38 special observers for the regional centers, 190 enforcement officers, police and revenue officials, apart from flying squads were appointed.

The convener informed that neither malpractice cases nor errors in question papers were reported in both Engineering as well as Agriculture & Medical streams.
