‘Universities most important vital organs of a Nation’

Hyderabad: Prof. Jandhyala B. G. Tilak, Former Vice-Chancellor, National University of Education Planning and Administration , Distinguished Professor, Council for Social Development, New Delhi was the chief guest at the University Foundation Day Celebrations.

Prof. Jandhyala B. G. Tilak delivered a Lecture on “On Dilemmas in Reforming Higher Education in India”. Paying tributes to Prof G. Ram Reddy, the chief architect and doyen of distance education in the country,

Prof Jandhyala observed the choice become tougher, as the markets are emerging stronger and stronger and becoming increasing powerful, while state is becoming weaker and weaker highly vulnerable.

There is no meaning of producing cheap quality graduate who are not useful either to labor market or to society at large. Universities form the most important vital organs of a nation, India is on the part of all round progress. All this suggest that the system needs reforms, badly and urgently, and well- thought-out reforms.

But we face serious dilemmas reforming higher education. I find that some dilemmas are redundant and some need a little bold thinking- drawing from traditional wisdom and contemporary world experience. Prof. K. Seetharama Rao, Vice-Chancellor, Dr. BRAOU presided over the function and greeted the staff on the occasion.

He was recollected the services of Late Prof G.Ram reddy. Prof. Y. S. Kiranmayi, Director (Academic), Dr. BRAOU welcomed the gathering and introduced the programme and the speaker.

The programme was attended by the Directors, Deans, Heads of Branches Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff Members. Prof. C.Venkataiah, Registrar, Dr. BRAOU, proposed the vote of thanks.
