Grand Alliance to come up with common agenda: Uttam

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy announced that the grand alliance of four parties – Congress, TDP, CPI and TJS would come up with a common agenda for next elections.

Speaking to media persons after the meeting between the representatives of all four parties here on Saturday, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that several issues including a common minimum program and basic strategy were discussed during the meeting.

He said that the grand alliance would finalize a common agenda in the next two-three days. However, he said there was no discussion on seat sharing and it would be completed before the release of election notification.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the grand alliance was not in a hurry to announce the manifesto or seat sharing agreement. Since all political parties would have their own manifestoes, a common agenda was being prepared with a broader consensus.

The TPCC Chief also announced that a few more political parties were likely to join the alliance in the next few days. He said the leaders of grand alliance would meet against on Sunday and Monday to discuss related issues.

He said people got nothing other than disappointment from the TRS Government. Therefore, there was a need for all political parties, groups and sections to join hands to protect democracy in Telangana State, he said.

Besides Uttam, today’s meeting was attended by Telangana TDP President L. Ramana, CPI State Secretary Chada Venkat Reddy and Rachana Reddy of Telangana Jana Samithi.

Meanwhile, TJS president M. Kodandaram said that the alliance was not yet named and it was not yet final. He avoided a reply when asked for reaction on a question related to TJS party’s possible alliance with BJP.

CPI leader Chada Venkat Reddy alleged that the TRS leaders were openly violating the Model Code of Conduct by participating in various programmes.

TDP president Ramana alleged that caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao has cheated all sections of the society. He said a common manifesto would be prepared to do justice with all the sections who felt let down by TRS Government. (INN)
