EC failed to correct electoral rolls: Sravan

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Chief Spokesperson Dr. Sravan Dasoju alleged that the Election Commission of India has failed to carryout corrections in the electoral rolls although the irregularities were pointed out by the Congress party on multiple occasions.

Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday, Sravan presented a voters’ list before the media wherein the names of two daughters of Secunderabad Cantonment ex-MLA G. Sainna (Nivedita and Namrata) figured in two different constituencies of Cantonment and Musheerabad.

He said such instances were just the tip of an iceberg. The local authorities have committed monumental mistakes in preparation of electoral rolls and the Election Commission must clarify on this. He said that the Election Commission has neither removed fake voters nor it added over 30 lakh names which were wrong removed.

He said it was after the Congress party approached the court nearly 15 lakh names were re-included in the electoral rolls and they would be part of final list to be published soon. However, he said lakhs of fake names still exist in the electoral rolls.

Sravan also found fault with the Election Commission of India for announced the election dates for Telangana State. He said that the ECI should have rectified the mistakes identified by the Congress party before announcing the schedule.

He said it was completely unethical and unconstitutional to go ahead with the scheduled without looking into the proved irregularities.

Speaking about caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, Sravan alleged that the TRS chief has lost his mental balance and he was going into depression. He said KCR has been targeting the Congress leaders in foul and filthy language just to cover up his failures and shield the non-fulfilment of electoral promises.

He also accused KCR of inciting regional sentiments. He said the language and tone being used by KCR against opposition leaders was aimed at drawing people’s attention although his behaviour clearly indicates that he was suffering from some kind of mental disorder.

He said KCR has stooped down to the level of insulting leaders who have passed away long ago. He said KCR had no stature to speak anything about Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru or Indira Gandhi.

Immediately after independence, India was a completed shattered and divided nation and it was Pandit Nehru who laid the foundation for a modern India. He said KCR was wrongly blaming Pandit Nehru of forcibly merging Telangana with Andhra.

He said Pandit Nehru had formed Andhra Pradesh to provide better administration in the areas which till September 1948 were part of Asaf Jahi Dynasty. He said KCR was neither aware of history nor he understands the logic behind some decisions taken in the national interest.

Similarly, he said former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi has not only waged a war against poverty, but she also won a war for the country. He said it was wrong on the part of KCR to criticise Indira Gandhi who laid down her life for the nation.

Sravan also condemned KCR for targeting former Chief Minister Dr. Y.S. Rajashekhara Reddy who won the hearts of all people by introducing schemes like Fee Reimbursement, Aarogyasri, 108 & 104 Ambulance Services and other schemes.

He said that the fear of defeat in next elections has turned KCR so unethical that now he is trying to draw political mileage by criticising leaders who are dead.
