Institutions are recognized by its research works – Prof. Ainul Hasan

Hyderabad: Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), Saiyid Hamid Library organised an Author Workshop
on December 16, 2021 in collaboration with Taylor & Francis Publishing Group (TFPG). The theme of the
workshop was “How to Publish scholarly books with Taylor & Francis”. Total of 395 participants registered
from MANUU campuses.
Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice-Chancellor in his thought provoking inaugural address remarked that
academic institutions are recognised by the kind of research undertaken by its faculty and research
scholars. He stressed upon the need for conducting such programmes on regular intervals for the
enhancement in teaching and research skills of MANUU researchers.
In his opening remarks, Prof. S.M. Rahmatullah, Pro-Vice Chancellor spoke at length on the latest trends
in research in the field of social sciences. While congratulating the staff of the university library, Prof.
Siddiqui Mohd. Mahmood, Registrar I/c emphasized on strengthening the research culture in the
university.
Speaking on the theme ‘How to Publish scholarly books with Taylor & Francis’, the Speaker, Dr.
Gagandeep Singh, Senior Publisher, Editorial, Taylor & Francis Group covered important aspects of
publishing scholarly content in books & journals. He also spoke on traditional vs Open Access publishing
models; how to write a formal proposal, e-books/print books, etc. Discover-ability of any scholarly content
is one of the most important aspects of research writing as it directly impacts the visibility of any research
work. After completing research work, the authors must ensure that they use social networking sites to
publicise such works which may further lead to better citations and author impact on the academic
community, he added. Participants raised relevant issues related to the publishing of books and journals in
question and answer session.
Earlier, Dr. Akhtar Parvez, Librarian, SH Library welcomed the participants and introduced the speaker. He
also proposed vote of thanks.
