Hyderabad: The University College of Arts and Social Sciences (UCA&SS) and Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS) jointly organized a two-day workshop for the French language teachers teaching at the undergraduate level by Director, Dr. Praveen Mamidala and Convener, Dr. A.S.N. Pavani.
The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. D. Ravinder, Vice Chancellor, Osmania University, D. Ronald Rose, Secretary, TSWREIS, Dr. Gerard Inizan, Director, Safran Aircraft, India, Dr. Samuel Berthet, Director, Alliance Francaise, Hyderabad and Prof. C. Ganesh, Principal, UCA&SS.
The dignitaries thanked Prof. R. Limbadri, Chairman, TSCHE for his constant support for the academic projects initiated. Addressing the participants, D. Ronald Rose, Secretary, TSWREIS suggested that the administrators have to consider teacher and student burnout while implementing new academic projects. Further, he added that the Government of Telangana through the Residential Educational Institutions is working to provide quality education to the marginalized students and regarding the French language, they are aiming to complete B2 level certification by the time students complete graduation.
Prof. Ravinder has mentioned that the university is actively working on administrative and policy reforms to revive the glory of the university and the moving up in the NIRF ranking of the university is a welcoming sign.
Dr. Gerard expressed that learning a new language opens up new opportunities for the students and it is very encouraging to see the Government of Telangana and Osmania University coming together to introduce French as a Second language in undergraduate colleges across the state.
The sessions included live webinars from ‘Cosmopolite textbook authors from France, resource persons from EFLU and Alliance Francaise, Hyderabad. The committee members involved in the syllabus restructuring include Chriasri, Prof. Jayant Dhupkar, Dr. Uma Damodar Sridhar, Dr. Praveen Mamidala, Dr. A.S.N. Pavani. (INN)
