Mahaboobnagar Govt Hospital sees record 44 deliveries in a day

Hyderabad: A record number of 44 pregnant women gave birth on the same day at Mahaboobnagar Government General Hospital on Saturday. Hospital superintendent Dr Ram Kishan said that all the pregnant women belong to the erstwhile Mahaboobnagar district. Some of the 44 had a normal delivery, while others had cesarean sections.

The high number of deliveries is attributed to the state government’s KCR Kit scheme, which provides financial assistance and essential items to pregnant women. The scheme has also led to an increase in the number of deliveries in government hospitals, as women are more likely to choose government hospitals due to the availability of free kits and other benefits.

Doctors at the hospital are giving priority to normal deliveries for pregnant women, and Amma Odi vehicles are being used to transport babies home. Besides, medicines like iron and folic acid are provided to pregnant women under the Arogya Lakshmi scheme. (INN)
