Foundation stone laid for Nizam College classroom complex and boys’ hostel

Hyderabad: The foundation stone for the Nizam College Classroom Complex and Boys Hostel was laid on Saturday by Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development K. T. Rama Rao.

The project is being funded by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) at an estimated cost of Rs. 18.75 crore. The proposed structure will include 30 classrooms to cater to 1,800 students and 72 rooms for the boys’ hostel to accommodate 430 students.

Speaking at the event, Minister KTR, who is an alumnus of Nizam College, said that he was proud to be associated with the project. He recalled his days as a student at the college and said that he was glad that the government was taking steps to improve the infrastructure of the college.

KTR also announced that the HMDA would be providing funding for the construction of a parallel link road along Adikmet. He said that the HMDA had so far provided Rs. 40 crore for the development of infrastructure at Osmania University.

The foundation stone laying ceremony was attended by a number of dignitaries, including Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Minister for Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, and Cinematography; Mohammed Mahmood Ali, Minister for Home; P. Sabitha Indira Reddy, Minister for Education; Surabhi Vani Devi, MLC; D. Ravinder, Vice Chancellor of Osmania University; P. Laxminarayana, Registrar of OU; B. Reddiya Naik, OSD to VC; B. Bhima, Principal of Nizam College; and faculty members, alumni, and students of Nizam College.

The dignitaries thanked Rama Rao for his generous support to Nizam College and for the initiatives taken by the government to improve the infrastructure of the college. They also expressed their gratitude to the HMDA for funding the project. (INN)
