Dag termed as ‘Poet of Finer Emotions’ in MANUU Seminar

No literary tradition can thrive merely on the shoulders of its literary giants, said Prof. Shamim Hanafi in a seminar on ‘Nawab Mirza Khan Dag Dehlavi’ at Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU).

Second rung poets and writers play an important role in the development of any language, said the literary critic and poet in his keynote address in inaugural session of the MANUU seminar.

The three-day national seminar is organized by MANUU’s Department of Urdu in collaboration with National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language of New Delhi.

Speaking on the occasion, MANUU vice chancellor Dr. Aslam Parvaiz shared the university’s plan to soon launch a peer-reviewed journal of social sciences in Urdu.

Indian-Canadian physician Dr. Taqi Abedi, who is also a poet and scholar of Urdu, exhorted the young research scholars to do more research on different aspects of Dag’s poetry. Dr. Abedi was Guest of Honour at the function.

Prof. Naseemuddin Farees, Dean, School of Languages, Linguistics & Indology described Dag as “the poet of finer emotions.”
