Dy CM reviews preparations for Library Week from Nov 14

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister (Education) Kadiyam Srihari informed that the Telangana Government would celebrate Library Week from 14th to 20th November.

The Deputy CM held a review meeting at his chambers in the State Secretariat on Friday and decided to release Rs. 20 lakh to celebrate Library Week.

Addressing the meeting, he informed that there were nearly 68 lakh books in 572 libraries across the State. During the last two years, nearly 2.53 crore people have benefited from these libraries and 4.88 lakh were registered visitors.

He said these libraries were playing an important role in creating awareness among the people.

Kadiyam said that the State Government has kept study material for Group I & II exams in many libraries for the benefit of candidates.

It has also been decided to organise Children’s Day on November 14, Book Exhibitions on November 15, functions dedicated to eminent personalities on November 16, conferences on November 17,

competitions for students on November 18, Women’s Day on November 19 and Literacy Day on November 20.

The review meeting was also attended by Principal Chief Secretary Rajeev Acharya, Director Libraries Venkateshwar Sharma and other senior officials. (INN)
