Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister (Education) Kadiyam Srihari said that Digital Classes would be stated in 5,400 Government High Schools across the Telangana State from next academic year 2017-18.
Replying to a question raised by MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi in the State Legislative Assembly during Question Hour on Monday, the Deputy CM informed that presently Digital Classes were being run in 3,472 high schools benefitting 8.68 lakh students.
He said by next year, all schools including Urdu, Telugu and English mediums will have Digital Classes facility.
The Deputy CM said that the State Government has released Rs. 63 crore grants for maintenance of government schools.
Admitting that there were many vacancies in the schools, he said 9,000 Vidya Volunteers were recruited in July this year. He said that the government had plans to fill all vacancies this year.
However, this could not be done due to reorganisation of districts.
Kadiyam said that the government had spent Rs. 5.62 crore on Digital Classes wherein one projector and other equipment was purchased for all schools.
He said students from sixth to ninth standard would have Digital Classes in Science, Mathematics and English, both in online and offline modes. (INN)
