Kadiyam lists out measures to improve school education

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Education Kadiyam Srihari on Thursday said that the state government was taking numerous steps to improve the quality of education in state-run schools.

Replying to a question on the steps government taking to better school education in the Legislative Council, Kadiyam Srihari said that the government was spending huge funds to improve the basic facilities in government schools.

He appealed the legislators to contribute funds from their local area development funds.

The Deputy CM said that the government has released Rs 60 crore for construction and maintenance of toilets in state schools.

He said that the government was allocating Rs 1 lakh to High Schools, Rs 50,000 to Upper Primary Schools. He also said that the government has delegated powers to schools to appoint two workers in every school.

Kadiyam also said that the state government has already released Rs. 235 crore to provide basic facilities in government schools like construction of compound walls, provision of water and power supply, digital classes and other basic infrastructure.

The Education minister asked authorities to bring to his notice if there were any pending bills for mid-day meals and assured of immediate clearance of bills.

The Deputy CM asked the MLAs from capital city to donate Rs 1 crore from their constituency development fund to schools development in their constituencies and promised to add Rs 4 crore from government for the same.

The government would be able to provide enough infrastructure with Rs 5 crore grants in each constituency in the capital, he said. (INN)
