Digi-dhan Mela inaugurated in Nizamabad

Hyderabad: Nizamabad District Collector Yogitha Rana, alongwith Niti Aayog director Jugal Kishore Sharma, Director, inaugurated ‘Digi-dhan Mela’ at Nizamabad on Thursday.

Students from various colleges and schools, members of DWACRA groups attended the mela.

Yogitha Rana, while addressing the gathering, said that in order to promote and popularise digital cashless transactions the Central government decided to hold awareness camps, called the ‘Digi-dhan melas’ across 100 cities in the country.

In the Telangana state, Digi dhan melas were organised already at Hyderabad and Warangal, she said. Now the third mela is being conducted in Nizamabad, the Collector added. The Niti Aayog has been organising these melas across the country as part of its ‘100 days, 100 cities’ drive to combat black money, the Collector explained.

The District Collector also highlighted the need to go in for digital transactions. She said that cashless transactions could be done through WhatsApp, smart phones, fast track, Paytm and credit cards.

She said that the main aim of organising such awareness camps was to enlighten all the people, especially those from the rural areas about the ways of digital transactions. She appealed to the people to gain knowledge of cashless transactions and utilise the mela.
