Qurrah held for selection of Haj Pilgrims from Telangana

Hyderabad: Computerised Draw of lots (Qurrah) for selection of 330 Haj pilgrims from among 17,564 General category applicants from Telangana State was held here this morning at Haj House, Nampally.

Advisor to Government A. K. Khan inaugurated the Draw, while Minorities Welfare Department Syed Omer Jaleel was the Chief Guest.

Speaking on the occasion, AK Khan said that every facility would be provided to the Haj pilgrims. He said that every year 10 to 15% Pilgrims cancel their journey and their seats are allotted to the pilgrims of Waiting List.

He said that the list of the selected pilgrims would be posted on the website of the Telangana State Haj Committee besides the Haj Committee of India website.

He further said that those who were not selected for Haj should take precautions before selecting a Private Haj Tour Operators and verify his credentials.

In his speech, Syed Omer Jaleel said that he had got the opportunity to serve the Haj pilgrims in various capacities. He said that the Haj is a pious practice and an obligation on Muslims.

Telangana State Haj Committee Special Officer Prof. S. A. Shukoorin his report said that the Haj Committee allocated a Haj quota of 3,367 seats for Telangana state.

As many as 3,037 applicants under two reserved categories were selected for Haj 2017 he said and added that Qurrah was held for selection of remaining 330 seats. (INN)
