5500 applications registered in Passport Mela for Railway employees

Hyderabad: Regional Passport Office, Hyderabad in collaboration with South Central Railway (SCR), has conducted a passport mela exclusively for railway emplyoees at Begumpet, Ameerpet and Tolichowki Passport Seva Kendras on Saturday.

This was the largest passport mela ever organized by RPO Hyderabad with more than 5,500 passport applications registered in a single day. The inaugural function was held at Passport Seva Kendra, Begumpet.

Regional Passport Officer Dr. E. Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, SCR Additional General Manager A.K. Gupta and SCR Chief Personnel Officer N.V. Ramana Reddy addressed the gathering.

On this occasion, the Regional Passport Officer also announced a new “family token” facility for the convenience of family members applying for passport services. Currently, Passport applications are being processed at different time slots as per online appointment schedules leading to long waiting hours for family members.

From now onwards, members of the same family, who have otherwise obtained different appointment slots on a particular day, can avail walk-in with ‘family tokens’ at all Passport Seva Kendras under the jurisdiction of the Regional Passport Office, Hyderabad for submission and processing of their passport applications at a single go.

transparent and user friendly manner Regional Passport Office, Hyderabad has been conducting exclusive passport melas on weekends for the convenience of government employees and other citizens. The exclusive passport mela for railway employees is part of this exercise, the RPO said in a press release. (INN)
