Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari said that the State Government was continuously and sincerely making efforts to improve learning outcomes of the children in the Telangana State.
In his reply to a question raised by Congress MLA Ch. Vamshichand Reddy during Question Hour in Legislative Assembly on Thursday, the Deputy CM admitted that the Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) for the year 2016, released on 18th January this year, has revealed that 60% of 3rd class students in Telangana State are unable to read the 1st class Telugu text book properly and similarly other class students in other subjects.
The ASER cover private/government/local body schools in the rural areas. However, the ASER 2016 also indicated that there was an improvement in the reading performance of Class III students of government schools in Telangana when compared to ASER 2014, he said.
Kadiam said that the government was trying to improve the system by introducing steps like bio-metric attendance, qualitative training to the teachers and regular academic monitoring by the State-level teams in the government/local body schools. (INN)
