TS Govt identify 399 Acres in city for 2BHK Housing

Hyderabad: The Telangana Government has identified 399.31 Acres of land spread across 97 locations in Greater Hyderabad for the construction of double bed room houses for weaker sections.

This was disclosed during the Convergence Meeting held on Monday and attended by top officials of major department. During the meeting, tenders have been finalised for 46 identified locations involving 67.94 acres of land.

The District collectors have been asked to expedite pending land transfers.

Today’s meeting was attended by the GHMC Commissioner Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy, HMRL MD NVS Reddy, HMWSSB MD, Jt Collectors of Hyderabad & Medchal districts; Jt Commissioners of Traffic from Hyderabad and Cyberabad; ED of TSRTC, GM TSSPDCL and other officials from all these Departments.

However, the officials of HMDA, Rachakonda Police, RR Collectorate and R&B Department did not attend the meeting.

Several other important issues were also discussed during the Convergence Meeting. With regard to disaster management, it was decided to pool resources by all departments and appoint Nodal Officers by all departments. Dial 100 will be used as integrated Emergency Call and its cost would be shared proportionately.

Immediate action will be taken by all concerned on fire accidents.

It was also decided that the Convergence meetings will be held twice instead of once in month a from this month onwards till the end of monsoon season.

With regard to water supply, it was informed that about 1200 Kms have been dug up so far for laying water supply lines under HUDCO project in peripheral circles of GHMC and about 300 KMs have been already restored. Circle-wise plan is prepared to restore 700 KMs by the end of this month.

Special focus will be laid on Malkajgiri, Quthbullapur and Alwal Circles and special emphasis will be on early completion and commencement of water supply works pertaining to Jawaharnagar surrounding villages.

It was also decided to ban all road cuttings till the end of monsoon season. However, permissions will be given in only specific cases with proper justification.

The top officials have decided to address identified 97 water stagnation points in the city. It was also decided to conduct joint inspection of hotels.

It has bene decided to beautify the Metro corridor by raising the medians. All departments were asked to identify private individuals who could take the responsibility of maintaining road medians with right of one advertisement hording for every 20 metre stretch.

It is proposed to take up road markings, especially covering all junctions with Zebra crossings and Stop line markings. The officials also proposed to take up special drive to tackle the child beggar menace in the city. (INN)
